Suspended material in the Mississippi River transports the following sparingly soluble synthetic chlorinated pesticides and industrial chemicals: aldrin, chlorthalonil, chlordane, DCPA, DDT, DDE, DDD, dieldrin, endrin, heptachlor, heptachlor epoxide, hexachloro-benzene, lindane, methoxychlor, mirex, pentachloroanisole, pentachlorobenzene, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and trifluralin.
